Obituary

Warren K Leman of Traverses City passed away peacefully in his home October 6, 2024; just one day short of his 89th birthday.

Warren was born October 07, 1935, in Rock Springs, WI to the late Paul Leman and Adelene (Schneider) Leman.

Warren met Dorothy Bowers on a blind date, Valentines Day 1956. They were married on August 11 later that year and spent over 55 wonderful years together raising their children and building a successful business.

Warren and Dorothy moved to Traverse City in 1973 and purchased a bait/tackle and boat rental business on the north end of Long Lake – Long Lake Marina. They grew the business with their children over the next 50 plus years to its current location in Interlochen, MI. Warren spent many miles on the road hauling boats with his 1 ton dually. Many a trip was spent with a full load of boats heading back from Florida or Indiana. If you were in his way going up a hill or going too slow; you better move over quick. Warren was a hard-working man and would often put younger employees to shame when they tried to keep up with him. He especially enjoyed the many relationships with his customers developed over 50 plus years in business. Warren along with his son Paul worked together in the business and snowmobiled together well into his 80's.

He and Dorothy would spend their weekends in Frankfort fishing on Lake Michigan or heading around the country in their motorhome traveling visiting family and friends. They made many trips to Nebraska to visit their daughter Pam and grandchildren. They loved spending time snowmobiling around Michigan, Wisconsin and South Dakota. Warren enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and looking for deer in the woods in his Jeep. One of his favorite past times were trips to the casino followed by stories of his many wins. He loved to talk with family and friends about his different cars, trucks, boats and snowmobiles. Warren always had a story to share about how fast he drove and his many adventures.

According to his wishes he was able to spend his last months at home with a staff of excellent care givers, including Kristy, John and Carol.

Warren lost Dorothy in May 2012, the love of his life but he held his own and continued to live life to the fullest. He traveled with his faithful companion, brother-in law Carl, daughter Pam and his grandchildren.
Warren is survived by his children of Traverse City, Alan (Beth), Pamela, Paul (Heather) and grandchildren Christopher, Jordan, Breanna, Joshua, Jessica, Katherine, and Benjamin, along with great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his -in laws, Ann Bowers, Fred Wilson, and Karen & Bob Haderer along with several nieces and nephews.
