Obituary

Warren V "Pete" Peterson 92, of Traverse City, Michigan passed peacefully at his home with his family by his side on January 11, 2025. Born in Detroit Michigan in 1932. Pete and his wife Catherine moved to Traverse City in 2003 after living 38 years in Florida. He was a partner in the Lanier Upshaw Insurance Agency in Lakeland Florida. Pete also worked at Peterson Mcgregor & Associates in Traverse City for nearly 20 years, retiring at the age of 87. Pete was the founding member of the Christina Rotary and received the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow upon retiring. Over the years he served as an elder, usher, on the board of trustees and participated in the choir at several churches.

Pete's love for tennis lasted throughout his life, the love of the sport and his friendly competitive nature gained him many wonderful friends over the years, playing competitively into his nineties. His family and friends knew him as a fun loving, generous and caring man that brought smiles to everyone he encountered, Pete did not know a stranger and has had lifelong friends since grade school. Pete proudly served in the Navy for three years.

His biggest accomplishment was marrying his high school sweetheart; Catherine McKenzie who passed in 2016. They were married for 64 amazing years. She was the absolute love of his life. They shared many adventures from traveling to the cottage days on Lake Ann with family and friends.

Pete is survived by his three daughters: Suzanne Peterson Boesch (Rick) Mary Ellen Drean, Connie Barcant (Rich) and his son Jeff Peterson (Paula), 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, his brother Ken Peterson, along with many nieces and nephews and also his loving companion for the past five years, Caroline Bullock.

In lieu of, flowers Donations may be given to the Child and Family Services.

The family would like to thank the many healthcare providers that cared for him in his final year with such kindness and grace.
