TRAVERSE CITY - Warren Gordon Wills, 94, of Traverse City and formerly of Saginaw, died peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2016, among family members at his home on East Bay.

Warren was born on December 3, 1921, in Leonidas Location, Eveleth, Minnesota, to Russell and Lillian (Hammarlund) Wills. He married his grade-school sweetheart Margaret (DeRidder) Wills on June 5, 1942, in Norway, Michigan. He served in the 95th Infantry Division in the European theater of World War II, and then graduated with a Civil Engineering degree from Michigan Tech in 1947. Known as the "Golden Goalie", Warren was an avid Red Wings fan and played hockey with local teams until he was 85.

Warren is survived by his five children: Barb Maize Gray of Saginaw, Mike (Carey) Wills of Traverse City, Tom (Vicki) Wills of Quinnesec, Scott Wills of Honor and Kathleen Wills (Robert "Ben" Begley) of Traverse City; sister Lorraine Jaworski; 14 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren; and countless relatives and friends.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson Nick Wills, son-in-law Alec Gray, and brothers Bruce and Doug Wills.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 25, 2016, at Old Mission Congregational Church, followed by lunch at 12:00 p.m. at the American Legion hall, 4001 Swaney Rd. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Centre Ice Arena in Traverse City.
