Wayne Johnson

On March 30, 2022 heaven gained a kind and gentle soul. Wayne Leroy Johnson, of Traverse City was 83 years old. Wayne was born in Elberta, September 6, 1938, to parents Peter and Delia Johnson (Jennings). Wayne worked hard for the Ann Arbor Railway for 20 years, retiring as a conductor. He truly loved his job and, of course, trains. Above all however, was his cherished family. Among many things Wayne will be missed for his lighthearted humor. He was the type of guy who didn't have any enemies.

Wayne leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Beverly (Johnson); children Robin (Michael) Losee, Andy (Melissa) Johnson and Kimberly Johnson; grandchildren Zachary (Jenny) Dowdy, Christopher (Eliza) Dowdy, Shawn Losee, Miranda, Levi, Ashley and Ryder Johnson; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings Imogene (Chuck) Luxford, Betty (Ron) Mick, Allan Johnson and Russell (Pam) Johnson.

He was preceded in death by both parents and brother, Lyle Johnson.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022, 11:00 AM at First Church of the Nazarene, Traverse City. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM and will continue until the time of service.
