Wayne Lee "Pete" Bright Sr., 85, of Maple City, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 14, 2014. Pete was born on Oct. 3, 1928 in Kasson Township, to the late Walter and Goldie D. (Ziegler) Bright. He honorably served our country in the United States Coast Guard from 1948 - 1951as a BM3 Boatsin mate 3rd class.

He married Lois Virginia Bushnell on Dec. 17, 1955 in Carrollton, IL., and the couple raised four children together.

Pete, worked 32 years for the telephone company as a repairmen until retiring in 1991. He was very active in the Cedar-Maple City Lions Club and had been a lifetime member serving for 48 years. Pete was know for his love of playing cards, his many hats and bib overalls, and especially for spending time with his grandkids.

Pete is survived by his four children; Wayne Jr. (Ave) Bright; daughters, Diane (Bob) Cox, Birdie (Scot) Schweikart, Lisa (Dean) Lillie; sisters, Wanda (Ken) Stormer, Pauline (Don) Stormer, Bertha Wassnaar, Leah (Bob) Erickson; a brother, Jay (Catherine) Bright; In-laws, Carol (Carol) Bright, Paul and Phyllis Bushnell; 8 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren and several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews, and one special niece, Sherry Buckler.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois; brothers, Carl and Ed Bright; brother-in-law, CarlBushnell: sisters-in-law, Vivian, Francis, Mae and Betty Berg.

A memorial service will be held 11:00AM on Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home with visitation held one hour prior at 10:00AM. A luncheon will be held after the service at the Cedar-Maple City Lions Club.
