Wayne Arthur Strait

Traverse City-Wayne Arthur Strait, 75, of Williamsburg (Barker Creek), Michigan, left his 'bodily universe' on Wednesday, July 11, 2012.
He was born March 2, 1937 to the late 'Orville and Clarabelle Strait. He attended and graduated from Central High School of Traverse City, Michigan and furthered his education at Michigan State University, where he majored in electrical engineering and horticulture.
Wayne enjoyed wood working, gardening, fishing, hunting, camping, model railroading, spending time with family and friends, as well as mentoring others.
He was employed as a machinist at Cone Drive Textron in Traverse City, Michigan until his retirement on January 1, 2000.
Wayne is survived by his wife, L. Sue(Suzie Q)(Mathers)Strait. Siblings, Larry Strait (Bobbie/Deceased)of Wisconsin, JoAn Larcom (Robert) of Traverse City, Elaine Hornbeck (Buddy) of Alaska and sister-in-law Diane (Oja) Strait of Gladwin. Children Penny (Dave) Ufer, Laurie Strait (Richard), Howard Strait (Bridget), Robert (Michelle) Strait, Joseph Strait, and step-children Amy (Michael) Langlois, Jimmy E. Persons III, and Korky (Samantha) Persons. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. In addition he was preceded in death by his parents, Oriville and Clarabelle (Gillis) Strait and brother, Ronald Strait.
There will be a memorial service at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth Street, Traverse City, MI at 4pm on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Richard Blaser will officiate.
Wayne, along with his extraordinary ability to make others feel comfortable, laugh, and enjoy each moment of life will be greatly missed.
