Weldon Lee Fritch, 87, of Traverse City, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012 at The Lakeview in Cadillac.
Weldon was born on July 5, 1925 to the late Leon and Gladys (Knisley) Fritch in Keego Harbor, MI. Weldon served his country as part of the United States Army during WWII.
He entered into marriage with the former Norma G. Jansen on November 17, 1945 in Pontiac, MI. Weldon made his home in Union Lake for over 30 years working as a mechanical engineer before retiring to Traverse City. He had a love and passion for restoring antique cars, proudly owning and displaying a 1930 Model A Ford. Weldon was a member of the Model A Club and past president and director for the Cherry Capital Region Model A Restorers. He also enjoyed time on the water boating and spent time hunting.
Weldon is survived by his son, Gerald (Suzanne) Fritch of Cadillac, his grandson, Dr. Todd (Jennifer) Fritch of Milford, MA, two sisters, Marion Ellis and JoAnn Vitton, as well as many other loving family members and friends.
Weldon was preceded in death by his wife, Norma in 2008, his parents, and brother's-in-law, Douglas Ellis and John Vitton.
Funeral services will take place at 11 A.M. on Thursday October 11, 2012 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior. The Rev. Justin Grimm will officiate.
Grave-side committal services will be held in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens
