William Samuel Coughenour

August 23, 1930 — April 13, 2018

William "Bill" Coughenour, 87, was born in Detroit in August of 1930 to Walter LeRoy and Lucille (Winkleman) Coughenour. He attended Edison Institute High School at Greenfield Village in Dearborn. He married his love Nancy (Crosby) In 1950 while attending Albion College. He served two years in the Army in 1952 and witnessed an atomic bomb detonation in Nevada. He made his career in auto parts sales and marketing to the Big Three (Ford, Chrysler, and GM). He loved golf and baseball and his family and was a past President at Oakland Hills Country Club in Birmingham. After 60 years of marriage, Nancy preceded Bill in death in 2010.

Bill is survived by his three children, Glenn (Marianne) of Traverse City, Paul (Deborah) of Bloomfield Hills and James of Brighton; and 4 grandchildren: Matthew, Sam (Annie) Benjamin and Peter. Bill's ashes will be interred in Acacia Park Cemetery in Beverly Hills, MI. The family is making private arrangements for a celebration of Bill's life.

The family extends its grateful appreciation to Glen Eagle, AdvisaCare and the Grand Traverse Pavilions for the care they provide Bill.
