William 'Bill' Courson Jr.

Empire - William Courson Jr., 73, of Empire passed away June 21, 2018 at his home.

Bill was born on February 18, 1945 in Grand Rapids to the late William Ralph and Donna Marian (Brooks) Courson.

Bill owned and operated an upholstery shop in Livonia for many years called Courson Custom Uholstery.

Bill was passionate about many things, but especially his time in the service and cars.

Bill honorably served our country as a member of the United States Army from 1967 to 1968. He was a member of the 4th Division stationed in Pleiku and a survivor of the TET offensive.

Bill was the proud owner of two classic cars; a 71 Monte Carlo and an 84 Chevy Corvette. He cared for them meticulously.

In his spare time he also enjoyed collecting clocks and watches. Bill was also a member of the Cedar/Maple City Lions Club, the American Legion Post #225 and a life time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the DAV. He was a man with a great sense of humor with quick wit and a kind heart. He was a tough old bird who always had a positive attitude. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

Bill was preceded in death by his son Joseph "Joey", parents and former wife Evelyn Sanderson.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife Bonnie; children Tony (Brook), Angela (Emil) Steinhaus III; step-son Ian; step-daughter Bianca (Elijah); grandchildren Samantha, Madison, Elizabeth, Dashal, Lanz, Zander, Emma and Levi; siblings John Courson and Olivia (William) Courson-Alvis.

A memorial service will take place Monday June 25, 2018 at 3:00pm at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior.
