William "Bill" Karns Tibbitts, 91, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully at Byron Center Manor on Friday August 1, 2014. He was born on July 3, 1923 in Acme, Michigan, the son of Allie Nathan and Clara (Karns) Tibbitts. Bill grew up in Traverse City, and graduated from Traverse City High School after serving 1 and 1/2 years in the SW Pacific with the United States Marine Corps. He was a life long member of the First Christian Church in Traverse City and served as head usher for many years. He also was a deacon of the Community Church in Lanark Village, FL., where he and his beloved wife Esther spent many fun filled years during the Winter. William served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1942-1945 and was discharged as a sergeant. He has been a 45-year member of the VFW and also the American Legion.

Bill owned and operated Bill Tibbitts' Barber Shop on Randolph St, Traverse City for 35 years. Bill Lived happily at Glen Eagle in Traverse City for 10 years.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife Esther and his brother, Kennith. He will be lovingly remembered by his family: Sandra (Tibbitts) and Al Davis from Jenison, MI., Patricia Tibbitts from Thompsonville, MI, his grand children , Craig and Lauren Davis (Jacob and Colin), Brian and Stacy Davis (Olivia and Reagan), Ann and Kevin Taghon (Michelle and Kevin Jr.), David and Chirstia Geroy. He will be greatly missed by his sisters in laws, Nancy Lanham, Dottie Lanham and many nieces and nephews.

Please join the family for visitation on Monday August 4, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at the Reynolds-Jonkhofff Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 am at the funeral home with Pastor Brett Spaulding officiating. After the service, cremation will take place and burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery
