William Wright Love, 99, of Redford Township, MI, and formerly of Traverse City, passed away Thursday March 19, 2015, in Westland, MI.
William was born on January 21, 1916, in Traverse City to the late Harry and Helen (Wright) Love. He married the late Sylvia Parkila in Traverse City.
The Love family has been known to have been some of the first settlers to our area. At the tender age of 11 William became a member of the Traverse City Congregational Church on Washington Street. He became and remained a member for 60 years of Bushnell Congregational Church when he moved to Redford Township.
He honorably served in the United States Army in WWII. After his time in the service he went to work for the Ford Motor Company for over 43 years as a utility man operator. Also, he became a licensed electrician and worked for Montgomery Ward wiring houses and farms all over northern Michigan.
William will fondly be remembered for his dedicated work ethic, generosity to others and love for his family.
Surviving William are his children, William "Bill" (Janet) Love of Empire; Rebecca Love (Boyfriend Gary Mallon) of Tawas; granddaughter Stephanie Love of Santa Fe, New Mexico; extended family and friends.
William is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings; Joanne Sporre, Louise Danner, and Robert Love.
Visitation will be held on Thursday March 26, 2015, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place on Friday March 27, 2015 at 11 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.
