William Harvey Walton, 87, of Traverse City passed away peacefully with family at his side, on December 15, 2025 at Culver Meadows.

Bill was born on June 16, 1938 in the village of Wexford to the late Leslie Thomas and Helen Marie (Adams) Walton.

He grew up in the Kinglsey area and graduated from Buckley High School.

On September 1, 1956 he married his high school sweetheart Jean Ann Weber at St. Mary in Hannah.

Bill was a true family man. He was a wonderful husband and he adored his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He was also known for his love of golf!

Bill was a true entrepreneur with a passion for construction, road building and land development. In the course of his career he owned and co-owned multiple construction companies building many of the State and County roads in Northern Michigan and Upper Peninsula. Bill retired from Walton Contracting Inc. in the fall of 1997. In addition, Bill also served as a road commissioner for Grand Traverse County for over 20 years.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ronald.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Jean; their children Cindi (Michael DeWater) Walton, Michael (fiance Lori Trbovich), Tina (Jeff) Martin and Robin (Mike) Rodes; grandchildren Candice, Kristy, Amber, Jaime, Jennifer, Nicole, Brooke, Tayler and Austin; 17 great grandchildren; brother Brent (Norma) Walton and sister Darlynn (Ron) Eagle.

The memorial mass will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 11 am with visitation beginning one hour prior at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Interment will be at St. Mary of Hannah Cemetery.
