Mrs. Willis "Tommy" Schenk, 91, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Boardman Lake Glens. She was born on December 21, 1923 in Grosse Pointe Farms to the late William and Lottie (Whitford) Thomas. She was married to Emerald "Bud" Schenk on October 17, 1944 in Grosse Pointe Farms. He predeceased her on March 26, 1993. Tommy attended First Congregational Church. She volunteered at the Macomb Hospital in Warren, Munson Medical Center and tutored students in Traverse City elementary schools. She loved spending summer vacations at the family cottage. Above all time with her family is what gave Tommy her greatest joy. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Tommy is survived by her two sons; Craig A. Schenk and Brian (Sarah) Schenk, five grandchildren; Randall Schenk, Robin Schenk, Julie (James) Dykstra, Kyle Norman and Timothy Norman, and three great-grandchildren; Tucker Schenk; Sophia Dykstra and Traven Dykstra. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Tommy was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Schenk, a great-granddaughter, Mikayla Dykstra, and two sisters; Dorothy Hutchinson and Bernice Goodman.

Friends are welcome to visit with Tommy's family on Saturday, February 7, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City, MI 49684.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at the funeral home, with visiting one hour prior. Rev. Dr. Gary Hogue will officiate.
