Wilma 'Wink' Jean Schaub, 82, of Traverse City, completed her earthly journey and joined her husband James on November 9, 2017.
Wilma was born to the late Chester and Daisy (Browning) Durga on June 11, 1935 in Benzie County. Wilma was one of 10 children.
After marrying her late husband Jim in 1957 they began their family and were five children strong. Wilma spent her time nurturing her family providing love, direction, encouragement and support with patience.
Wilma was the open door to the neighborhood always accompanied by a free meal. She was the canning specialist putting up enough canned goods every season from the garden to sustain a small army; or just her family, Wilma was a selfless person, giving of herself to others before giving to herself. Wilma also retired from Chef Pierre after 25 years.
Wilma is survived and missed dearly by her children; Fredrick (Joyce) Schaub, Susan (Tom) Garvin, Mark (Cathy) Schaub, Cathy (Dimitris) Pantzartzis, grandchildren, Maegan (Shawn) Sprague, Jayson (Angie) Garvin, Kylee (Shayne) Gatzke, Jacob Schaub, Nicole (Jason) Dobson, Evan Pantzartzis, step grandchildren; Mariana Graveline and Nick Lafuze, great grandchildren; Aven, Allie, Olivia, Alexis, Ethan, Wesley, Tucker, Charlie, Layla, Aeralynn, Reghan and Braylin, siblings; Richard (Gloria) Durga, Darlene (Gerry) Fisher, Beverly Harris, Wayne (Diane) Durga, Jack (Carolyn) Durga, sister in law Karen Durga and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her best friend and husband, Jim, her daughter Saundra 'Sandy" and siblings; Lillian Rundquist, Leonard Durga, Gene Durga and Chester 'Butch' Durga.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Hospice of Michigan for all their care, compassion and support through Wilma's journey.
