TRAVERSE CITY — Wilmer Ragan, 84, of Traverse City, passed away April 5, 2012, at Cherry Hill Haven.

Will was born on May 27, 1928, in Traverse City, at his family's home. He was the son of James and Vera (Cluff) Ragan.

Will served our country honorably as a member of the United States Army. Upon returning home from service, he worked as a mason and a builder. After retirement he learned woodworking and later built furniture.

In his spare time, Will enjoyed caring for animals at his home on the Boardman River. The DNR would bring him anything from racoons to deer and he would raise and care for them. Will also enjoyed golfing and going to his home in Florida during the winter.

He is survived his daughters, Linda (Bob) Beesley, of Southgate, Connie Keen, of Holt, Janet Homan, of Florence, Ky.; longtime friend, Laurie Frankie, and her children, Steve (Shelia) Frankie, Susan (Bob) Hogarth, Cindy (Eric) Sudekum and Deb (Greg) Bush; nine grandchildren, including Robert (Roni) Beesley, Jennifer Smith, Adam (Beth) Rogers; six great-grandchildren; brother, Harold (Lana) Ragan; as well as countless friends.

Will was preceded in death by his sisters, Norma Blue, of Traverse City, and Phyllis Hunsberger, of Elkhart, Ind.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 25, at Oakwood Cemetery on Eighth Street in Traverse City.

Memorial contributions in honor of Will may be directed to Hospice of Michigan, 400 Mack Avenue, Detroit, MI 48201-2136.
