Winfield L (Brownie) Stuck, 87, of Traverse City, formerly of Houghton Lake, passed away June 1, 2017 at Munson Hospice with his family by his side.
Winfield was born on June 11, 1929 in Gladwin, to the late Lester W. and Marian E. (Morrison) Stuck. He moved with his family to Houghton Lake at the age of 15 and graduated from Houghton Lake High School in 1947.
He started businesses with his brother, Lee, including Stuck's Furniture, Houghton Lake and West Branch Big Boy restaurants, Stop-N-Go stores, gas stations, Taco Bell's, and upon retirement sold to their children.
Winfield was a charter member of White Deer Country Club and loved the game of golf. He had a hole-in-one on April 28, 1957 at the old Heights golf course. He was a member of Mid-Forest Lodge for many years. He hunted pheasants in South Dakota for over 40 years.
Winfield was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Lee Stuck in 2014 and Jerry Stuck in 2015.
Surviving him is his wife of 30 years, Mary. His children: Randy (Michelle) Stuck of Traverse City, April (Dave Mertz) Stuck of Traverse City, Scott (Barb Nurenberg) Stuck of Jupiter, Florida, and sister, Marilyn Thompson of Grand Rapids.
Step-Daughters: Christina (Jeff) Kass of Clawson, MI and Stacey (Jamie) Boettcher of Lapeer.
Grandchildren and step-grandchildren: Jeff (Colleen Duke) Stuck, Brad (Julia Lilley) Platt, Leanna (Scott Rendell) Harvey, Brittany (Justin) Pence, Brian Kass, Gideon, Greighson, Garrison and Garrett Boettcher.
Great grandchildren: Parker Randolph Stuck, Grace Lilley Platt and Eliza Rose Platt.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate his life. Any memorials should be directed to Traverse City's Cherryland Humane Society, 1750 Ahlberg Rd., Traverse City, Michigan, 49686.
