Traverse City - Yolanda Geneva Egan, 92 of Traverse City passed away September 13, 2014 at her home with her family by her side.
Yolanda was born on November 29, 1921 in Lennon to the late Stephen Joseph and Barbara (Forro) Kiacz who were immigrants from Hungary.
On October 30, 1943 Yolanda married John A. Egan in Flint. Together they shared 67 years together before he passed away in 2011.
John and Yolanda lived in Saginaw and Birmingham until they moved to Traverse City in 1966. At that time they joined Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and have been devoted members ever since.
In her spare time Yolanda enjoyed gardening, quilting, and feeding the birds and squirrels. She and John loved to travel in their RV around the state. They also were world travelers and enjoyed learning about new cultures. Yolanda will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Yolanda was preceded in death by her husband John, sons John and Michael, brothers Stephen, Rudy and Carl and sister Irene.
Yolanda is survived by her daughters Sue Egan, Margaret (John) Hori and Barbara Egan, sons Thomas, Stephen, and Robert, 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Visitation for friends and family will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014 from 5 to 7 pm at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The Rosary will be prayed at 7 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 9:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. James Hayden presiding.
Memorial contributions in memory of Yolanda may be directed to Immaculate for Mass Intentions or for the Food Pantry of to the GTACS tuition assistance.
