Zachary Francis Endress, MD, 100, of Traverse City and formerly of Bloomfield Hills, died Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

Zac was born on Thursday, September 27, 1917 to the late Zachary and Agnes (Sharp) Endress in Altoona, PA. He complete his schooling there, then continued his education at St. Vincent's College and Georgetown University, earning his medical Degree. He served his residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit after which he began his practice in radiology.

Dr. Endress has served our country as a member of the U. S. Army Medical Corp. He was a Diplomat of the American College of Radiology. Zac was an active member of the Order of Malta and the Equestrian Order. He helped out in the medical Clinic at St. Leo's Parish in Detroit, serving the homeless. Up until health issues led him to live in Traverse City with family, he was very active in St. Hugo of the Hills Parish, serving in many ways.

Dr. Endress was preceded in death by his beloved wife, May (Devaney) Endress. Zac is survived by his children, Dr. Zachary (Dr. Carmen) Endress of Bloomfield Hills, Dr. Virginia (Lary) Sampson of Traverse City, James (Janice) of Beverly Hills, Candace Endress of Traverse City and Joseph (Paula) Endress of Chicago. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and his youngest sister, Sr. Mary Zachary of Seton Hill (Greensburg, PA)



Visitation will take place Friday, April 13 from 6 until 8 p.m. at The Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home with the Rosary being prayed at 7 p.m., led by Father James Hayden.

The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Anthony Citro presiding. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the mass.

Following the mass, cremation will take place and Dr. Endress' urn will be placed in the columbarium of St. Hugo of the Hills Parish in Bloomfield Hills.
