Traverse City - Zdenka "Babi" Ann Sika, 94, passed away Monday, February 8, 2016 at her home surrounded by the presence and loving care of her family.
Zdenka was born September 9, 1921 in Prague, Czechoslovakia, to Marie (Klubal) and Matja Novak.
In 1929, Zdenka came to the United States with her mother, brother and sister, where they resided in Chicago, Illinois. While in Chicago, Zdenka met her husband John Sika, where the two married on August 9, 1941 in Cicero, Illinois.
Zdenka and John moved to Traverse City in 1966, where they opened ZJ's Dumpling house. Zdenka enjoyed baking with her grandchildren, and passed on her love of cooking to them all. She also enjoyed spending time with her family playing cards, and dancing the polka.
Zdenka is preceded in death by her parents Marie and Matja, brother Joe, sister Mary, beloved husband John, and son Jack.
She is survived by her daughter; Rose (John Jr.) Brayton, grandchildren; Robert (Jo) Sika, Carrie Leffel, Tammy (Kevin) Brunan, Tanya (Jared) Cox, Trisha (Todd) Ager, Tom (Nicole Shoemaker) Brayton, and 17 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, and her loving friends at Bay Ridge.
Visitation for Zdenka will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday, February 12, 2016, at the Greystone Mansion, 13996 Honor Highway, Honor with the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m., also at Greystone Mansion. Pastor Tim Manzer will officiate.
